NHS Derby City and QUAD, have been working together for over 3 years, with partner organisations, to develop an Arts and Health Programme for the community.
History
During 2006-2008 NHS Derby City and QUAD worked together with local people on the development and opening of a brand new healthy living centre, Revive, in Chaddesden, Derby. The vision for the Arts~Revive programme was to make the creativity of local people integral to the development and long term success of Revive.
Arts~Revive was introduced to help build a community and welcome the public into the building, offering them the opportunity to creatively engage in making positive changes to their health, wellbeing and lifestyle.
Through nurturing the unique skills, knowledge and determination of local people, Arts~Revive began to create a truly innovative and groundbreaking community centered Arts and Health programme.
The programme was broken down into 4 categories:
Arts, Health, Partners, Community.
Current
Building on the success of the Arts~Revive project we have been successful in securing funding to develop the work further to use creative approaches to improve health and reduce health inequalities of the most marginalized groups and communities in Derby city.
Through building confidence and self esteem, creating accessible information and providing links to services and support, the programme helps people to improve their health and well being.
This project has secured funding from Grants for the Arts - Arts Council East Midlands and the Big Lottery Reaching Communities Fund.
