The ‘Just 4 Girls’ group offers 13-19 year old girls living in the Sinfin neighbourhood of Derby city a safe and welcoming space to meet each week to form friendships and confiding relationships.
The group is supported by volunteers, a youth worker, CASH nurse (contraception & sexual health service) and artist who offer support and guidance with the arts promoting health issues as well as supporting the development and sustainability of the group.
The arts activities have encouraged the girls to attend the sessions and helped to make the environment more welcoming and young person appropriate.
Subjects raised have included; Risk taking, personal care, mental health and well being, Keeping healthy and positive relationships.
