Listen, Love, Learn offers young parents the opportunity to meet regularly and in a safe and inviting environment.
Work has evolved around; Emotions, memories, experiences, image, identity, relationships, development and play.
Recent Projects are:
Poetry
Artist Lydia Towsey worked alongside QUAD’s young parent group, introducing them to creative writing.
By supporting them to recognise their abilities, the parents were encouraged to tell their own stories and document their own series of memories in reflection of their journey to becoming new parents, with new hopes and dreams and a new focus in their life.
Supported by Barbara Lambourne and Rita Kappia – the parents then transferred their text into creative textile inserts that make up tactile books for use by parent and child.
This work is currently displayed as a textile banner on the maternity ward at Derby Royal hospital.
Trees
Participants considered their transition into becoming young parents. Reflecting on the different elements of support they will need throughout their changing circumstances, as well as their hopes and dreams for the future.
This work was included in the ‘Don’t Stop Believing’ exhibition at QUAD from 19th September – 15th November 2009
